Wisconsin is a state located in the midwestern United States, east of the Mississippi River. It is bordered by Minnesota to the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, and Michigan to the northeast. Wisconsin is the 23rd largest state in the US by total area and the 20th most populous, with an estimated population of 5.8 million as of July 2019. The capital of Wisconsin is Madison, and the largest city is Milwaukee.
