Vermont is a state in the northeastern United States and is part of the New England region. It is bordered to the west by New York, to the south by Massachusetts, and to the north and east by New Hampshire. The state has an area of 9,616 square miles and a population of approximately 625,000 people. It is known for its rolling hills, dense forests, charming small towns, and abundant outdoor recreation opportunities. The Appalachian Trail and Long Trail both run through the state and provide spectacular hiking experiences.
