South Dakota is a midwestern state located in the central part of the United States. It is bordered by North Dakota to the north, Minnesota to the east, Iowa to the southeast, Nebraska to the south, and Wyoming and Montana to the west. South Dakota is home to vast expanses of grassland, Badlands National Park, and Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The state is also known for its abundance of lakes and pheasant-hunting opportunities. Its capital is Pierre, located in the geographic center of the state.
