Mississippi is a state located in the Southern United States. It is bounded to the north by Tennessee, to the east by Alabama, to the south by Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico and to the west by Arkansas. Mississippi is known as the "Magnolia State" and is known for its Gulf Coast beaches and its Mississippian culture. The state has the lowest per capita income in the country and the highest poverty rate.
