Michigan is a state located in the Great Lakes region of the United States. It has the longest freshwater shoreline of any political subdivision in the world and is bounded by four of the five Great Lakes. It is bordered by Wisconsin to the west, Ohio to the east, and Canada to the north. It is the tenth most populous state in the country and the largest by area east of the Mississippi River. Michigan's capital is Lansing, and its largest city is Detroit.
